INFORMACIÓN

La Segunda División A de Venezuela es la segunda categoría del Fútbol profesional Venezolano y se encuentra inmediatamente debajo de la Primera División del mismo país. En esta categoría se realizan 2 torneos el Torneo Apertura y el Clausura. El campeón de cada torneo se van a enfrentar entre si al final de la temporada para decidir quien es el campeón de la categoría, si el campeón de los dos torneos es el mismo automáticamente es el campeón de la categoría y el subcampeon va a ser el segundo equipo que haya acumulado mayor cantidad de puntos, ambos clubes suben a la primera división la siguiente temporada. La era amateur se inició en Venezuela 1921 y llegó a ser profesional en 1957, sin embargo, no es hasta 1979 cuando se realiza por primera vez un torneo de segunda división, ese año se titula campeón el Falcón Fútbol Club
